Animal Windfest: Extreme Windsports Events

Preparations are officially under way for this year’s Animal Windfest. The beach-based free extreme sports event returns to Poole in Dorset from the 11th -13th September 2009.

Now in its 11th year, it promises to be bigger, better and even more awesome than ever. Some of the biggest names in the sports of wind-surfing, kite-surfing and stand-up paddle boarding will be blowing audience’s minds all over again!

From the world of windsurfing, stars such as Antonine Albeau and Robby Swift will be competing in the JP-Neilpryde Slalom Series, while Kite-surfing kings Tom Court and Susi May will be showing the latest moves and stand-up paddle-boarders will be battling it out in a long distance race around Brownsea Island.

Not to be out-done, there will also be thunder-cat racing, bike shows and wakeboarding demonstrations.

For those of us who aren’t quite professionals yet, we won’t be left up the creek without a paddle: there’ll be fun races on the water for newcomers and beginners as well as new land-based activities to help everyone feel involved. Climbing walls, windsurf simulators, Ultimate Frisbee coaching, juggling workshops and INDO balance boards will all be available for everyone to try out.

As the sun sets and the swell subsides the competition will give way to celebration as the Friday Windfest Ball and Saturday’s legendary Windfest Party take over.

It all means one thing: Windfest 09 promises to be as much fun to take part in as it will be to watch.

Event organiser, Gary Willingham says; “The Animal Windfest is always one of the highlights of the year for everybody who loves beach-based sports, and this will be no different. We’ve got all the usual things our punters know and love from previous years, and we’ve got a few new tricks up our sleeve which should make the event even more fun for everyone.”

“Poole’s Blue-Flag beaches are amongst the best in the world and will, once again, provide the perfect backdrop to an awesome event. I’m really looking forward to another fantastic festival of windsurfing, kite-surfing, paddle-boarding and much more.”

Entry to the daytime events will be free, while tickets for Friday’s ball are £35 and Saturday’s party are £20. Entry into individual events will priced according to event and ability. To book your tickets, go to www.animalwindfest.co.uk, or call FCWatersports on 01202 707757
